“Desperate to pay their son’s ransom, a mayoral candidate and his wife resort to extreme measures, revealing dark secrets they never intended to bring to light.” This isn’t terrible, but it’s basically Kurosawa’s “High and Low,” a much better movie, with a political spin on it. I actually really like the first half, but the ending is unforgivable, and Ben Affleck is better than this. On Netflix.
