FROM THE WORLD OF JOHN WICK: BALLERINA

“An assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma organization sets out to seek revenge after her father’s death.” Slightly skeptical going in, but this holds its own among the 4 John Wick films. I’m not sure it’s better than any of those, but there is some damn good action, and decently funny at times. Ana de Armas proved she could do action in “No Time To Die,” but ups her game here. Definitely want more of this series.

PAYBACK

“After a successful heist, Porter is left for dead. Once he recovers, he seeks vengeance and wants his share of the money.” This annoyed from the beginning music. Just one I did not vibe with. There is some decent action and Deborah Kara Unger should have had a chance at bigger career.

On Prime.

FRIENDSHIP

“A suburban dad falls hard for his charismatic new neighbor.” Tim Robinson has a very specific type of humor, and if you like that, this is hysterical. It’s one of the few things that I can’t wait to see it again. The only other people in the theater were two older ladies who didn’t find it funny at all. Sometime in the middle, one said: “What is wrong with him?” Can’t recommend this enough.

MOUNTAINHEAD

“Four friends reunite during worldwide economic turmoil.” Halfway through, I thought this would have been better as a limited series, maybe like 8 episodes to add a little context, (I still might think that) but it really came around for me and I actually thought it was kind funny. Written and directed by Succession creator Jesse Armstrong, and has a lot of similarities. Watched on Max.
