THE BRIDE!
“In 1930s Chicago, Frankenstein asks Dr. Euphronius to help create a companion. They give life to a murdered woman as the Bride, sparking romance, police interest, and radical social change.” My least favorite thing I’ve seen in some time, and just a mess. I like Jessie Buckley a lot, but what she’s doing here is just annoying and there’s cuts to monologues in black and white, spoken by Mary Shelley, also played by Buckley, and it just doesn’t work. Christian Bale does what he can, but this is just a bizarre version of Bonnie and Clyde.
