STRANGE DAYS (1995)
“A black-marketeer tries to save a woman in 1999 Los Angeles.” Bizarre but exhilarating. This is one that feels like a second watch is probably essential to completely understand everything. It’s also one of those that attempts to take a stab at the future and doesn’t do a half bad job at it. Also one of the essential Los Angeles movies. Directed by the Hurt Locker’s Kathryn Bigelow, and co written by James Cameron, this one is not available anywhere (legally) and I had to get creative to find it.
