“Cartel leader Emilia enlists Rita, an unappreciated lawyer, to help fake her death so that she can finally live authentically as her true self.” So this is a musical, crime thriller? On one hand, I appreciate the major swing they took making this, because there is some great filmmaking here. I even like some of the songs, but I think they should have committed to this being completely musical or a straight up crime thriller because the tone feels all over the place. Zoe Saldaña is fantastic though and this was definitely interesting at the very least. Netflix.
