Cleveland Beer Week returned for its 16th year from October 4 through October 13, offering a packed schedule for beer enthusiasts across the city. The event, which started in 2009, celebrated local, regional, and national craft beers while supporting Cleveland’s bars and restaurants. It also served as a fundraiser for several local charities, including the Malone Scholarship Fund, Rec2Connect, and the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter.
The week kicked off with events like the Pumking Poker Run, a beer crawl that began at Southern Tier Brewing and wound through the Gateway District. Participants sampled beers and collected poker cards at each stop. Neighborhood crawls took place in areas such as Kamms Corner and Cleveland Heights, where attendees enjoyed special beer releases and unique collaborations at local bars. Another highlight was the Off Shore Pour on October 9, where guests embarked on a three-hour Lake Erie cruise aboard the Lady Caroline, complete with music, dancing, and beer tastings.
Throughout Cleveland Beer Week, local bars and restaurants will host various smaller events, such as keg tappings, beer pairings, tasting dinners, and brewer meet-and-greets. These activities allow establishments to showcase their culinary creativity alongside their craft beer offerings, ensuring something for everyone to enjoy.
Since its inception, Cleveland Beer Week has raised over $215,000 for local causes. This year, proceeds will support the Malone Scholarship Fund, which helps students achieve higher education, Rec2Connect, which focuses on inclusive recreational programs, and the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, a facility that cares for and adopts out stray dogs. The event not only shines a spotlight on Cleveland’s vibrant craft beer community but also reinforces its commitment to supporting local charities and businesses, making it a celebration with a lasting impact on the community.
