“This love story chronicles the lifelong relationship of conductor-composer Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein.” Mixed feelings here. Leonard Bernstein is regarded as one of the greatest musicians in American history, but after seeing the movie, I still don’t really know why. The movie mainly focuses on his complicated personal life, but I wish it would have gone more into his actual accomplishments. Still a lot to like, one masterful music number, excellent direction and acting by Cooper, and Carey Mulligan is absolutely amazing. I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much as a star is born, but it still shows that Bradley Cooper has a lot of talent behind the camera. Netflix.
