“When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events, selecting a new Pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundation of the Catholic Church.” I didn’t know a ton about this going in, but left thoroughly satisfied. It’s a very adult drama, but in terms of plot, not content. This is the first thing I’ve seen in theaters rated PG that hasn’t been animated in I don’t know how long. Ralph Fiennes is phenomenal, almost for sure getting an Oscar nom, and the rest of ensemble cast is great as well. I went to see this in the middle of the day on Friday and while I somewhat expected this, I was still kinda shocked at how many older couples were there. Vatican thrillers are their MCU.
