A German youth experiences 1st hand the horrors of World War 1. Excellent effects for time and surprisingly intense. Wanted to check this out before the remake comes out on Netflix and this holds up for the most part. Couple interesting facts: it’s the first movie to win Best Picture that was adapted from a novel, and it was banned in Germany (at the time) for being anti-war. Rented on Amazon Prime.
